IONCOR, one of Europe’s leading independent providers of battery systems, will relocate its battery testing hub to Kirchardt as part of a consolidation of its German operations. The move will streamline engineering, testing, and production under one roof, boosting efficiency and collaboration across functions.
The consolidation includes the sale of a share of IONCOR’s testing assets from the Bad Friedrichshall site to Electric Sphere, a dedicated, independent spin-off company specializing in battery testing. Employees in testing operations will either move to Electric Sphere or continue their roles with IONCOR in Kirchardt.
As part of this process, IONCOR will relocate its testing center to Kirchardt, where the company already operates a battery production plant. The transfer will take place over the next six months. IONCOR will concentrate its battery testing activities in Kirchardt, Germany, and in Uusikaupunki, Finland, both sites positioned close to engineering and production operations.

The new Kirchardt battery test center will serve IONCOR’s internal requirements and support its product strategy, which focuses on proprietary battery systems for bus, truck, and off-highway segments. For added flexibility, IONCOR will also continue utilizing external testing services, including those provided by Electric Sphere.
